Tips for the Travelers
Coming from far and wide? You're making our hearts full! We've gathered all the info you need to make your journey as smooth as your dance moves will be. (Or at least smoother than Luca's attempt at the Macarena 😉
How to move around
For everyone flying in and planning to stay in Puglia for a longer time, we highly recommend renting a car.
Please note that taxis are very rare in this region – it's almost impossible to find one!
Public transportation is available, but buses run on Italian schedules and can be unreliable. Trains are an option between some of the smaller towns, but this isn’t possible everywhere. We suggest booking your car as soon as possible, as prices are currently low.
On the day of the wedding, we will organize transportation from Monopoli to the venue and back, so you don’t have to worry about that.
Matera
Matera is a truly unique city in southern Italy that’s definitely worth a visit! It’s known for its ancient cave dwellings carved directly into the rock. You can wander through charming narrow streets and feel like you've traveled back in time. Since becoming the European Capital of Culture in 2019, Matera has seen a big revival and attracts people from all over – a must-see on any Italy trip!
Alberobello is a charming little town in Puglia, famous for its "Trulli" – small white houses with round stone roofs that look like something straight out of a fairytale. Walking through the streets of Alberobello feels like stepping into another world. These charming Trulli are so unique that they’re even part of the UNESCO World Heritage. Anyone visiting Italy and looking for something unusual should definitely add Alberobello to their list!

Bari is the vibrant capital of Puglia and one of the coolest cities on Italy’s Adriatic coast. The city has a great mix of historic charm and modern life: in the old town, Bari Vecchia, narrow streets are buzzing with Italian energy, while you can watch fishermen working at the harbor. Bari is also famous for the Basilica of Saint Nicholas – yes, the Saint Nicholas! And of course, you’ll find delicious Puglian specialties everywhere, like orecchiette pasta. A true gem for Italy lovers!
Polignano a Mare
Polignano a Mare is a beautiful coastal town in Puglia, perched right on steep cliffs above the turquoise sea. Its narrow alleys, amazing beach, and incredible views make it a perfect spot to visit. The unique part? You can even cliff dive into the sea if you're feeling brave! Polignano is also the hometown of the famous singer Domenico Modugno, who sang "Volare." Definitely a must-see if you're in Puglia!
